2020 Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition - Registration

The Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition, hosted by the University of Queensland (UQ) in Brisbane, Australia, is open to Universities in Australia, New Zealand, Oceania, Southeast and Northeast Asia. 

Universities from the eligible regions are invited to send their Institution’s 3MT competition winner (or next finalist in line that is available) to compete in the Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition.

Only one competitor per registered University is eligible to compete.  Registered Universities are required to complete their 2020 competition and confirm their representative's details with us by Friday 11 September.

Registration Entitlements:

  • Registration for one university 3MT participant and one guest
  • Light welcome breakfast (stand-up style)
  • Access to the semi-finals, keynote presentation and final competition
  • Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea
  • Attendance to the 3MT Cocktail Reception

Competitors will be expected to attend the full-day event from 7:30am until 6:00pm

Eligibility:

Active PhD and Professional Doctorate (Research) candidates who have successfully passed their confirmation milestone (including candidates whose thesis is under submission) by the date of their first presentation are eligible to participate in the Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition.  Graduates, Professional Doctorate (coursework), and Masters (both coursework and MPhil) students are not eligible to compete in the Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition.

Important information:

  • Registration places for the Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition are limited. 
  • Places will be offered in order of registration until capacity has been reached.
  • 3MT® is a registered trademark of The University of Queensland. The 3MT® logo and all resources will not be used without the permission of The University of Queensland and any use of the trademark and resources will comply with the competition and brand guidelines.

Participating universities agree to:

  • Provide UQ with the registration fee payment amount of AU$550 (incl GST) (payment is required on the following page and can be made via credit card or invoice);
  • Cover all travel, insurance, accommodation, meals and incidental costs for the competitor representing the institution;
  • Ensure competitors meet the above eligibility criteria;
  • Conduct the 3MT® competition as outlined in all materials provided by The University of Queensland.
